Publisher: Thomas Morton Bates, 1798.
Binding: Hardcover

First Edition, Early Printing (Date of 1798 on title page). Published by Thomas Morton Bates (Dublin), 1798. Octavo. Publisher’s original brown calf over marbled boards. 31 maps, all present (30 maps and 1 timeline chart). All are two-page fold-outs and the chart is 6 pages). Book is in very good condition. Moderate edgewear, chips to board edges and corners. Binding is still sound and all pages intact. Contemporary owner name of John Redmond written several times on front flyleaf (may be an Irish politician of that time period, but cannot confirm). Spotting to endpapers with some erasure marks. Small tears to hinges, but still sound. Some creases and spotting to pages. Maps are unmarked and not colored. A few have some light notations or marks; but most are clean. Table of contents lists plates # II-VI which were included in “Geography” and were not included in this volume. The other 31 plates (I, VII-XXI) are all present. The binding may have been repaired or tightened at some point. All pages have professional reinforcement towards the creases. A very scarce complete copy of this important late 18th-century European atlas. See table of contents and photos for a full list of maps included. Book has been placed in a custom acetate protector.
